Similar to Time of Day Preference, the system also allows you to custom day of week preferences to account for how flights on different days may attract varying levels of traffic and load factors. By adjusting these preferences, you can tailor your flight planning to more accurately reflect the fluctuating demand patterns that typically occur throughout the week.
The Day of Week tab, shown in Figure 1, includes a matrix for entering factors based on the day of the week, distinguishing between business and leisure travelers. Alongside the matrix, there is a chart that visually displays the inputted values.
By default, every day and traveler type is assigned a factor of 1.0, indicating no preference differentiation initially. You have the option to initiate these values using the Initiate Values button, which creates a baseline (also shown in Figure 1) that can be customized to better align with specific operational needs or observed patterns. If needed, the Reset Values button can be used to revert all factors to their default state of 1.0.
Please be aware that the day-of-week preferences are applied to the existing flight schedules. Since most scheduled flights are already tailored to align with the traffic patterns that vary by day, it’s important to ensure that any adjustments made to these preferences don’t inadvertently result in double-counting these effects.
