Comparison Action
To highlight the differences in flight schedule input between the current scenario and a baseline, follow these steps as demonstrated in Figure 1:
- Navigate to the scenario screen with menu Planning > Scenario Analysis.
- Select your base case from the Reference Scenario dropdown list.
- Choose Schedule Input from the subsequent dropdown list.
- Click on Compare.
Comparison Result
Upon initiating the comparison, the system evaluates flight schedules in two scenarios. It then generates a comparative dashboard, which will be displayed in a new tab, as depicted in Figure 2. This dashboard can be accessed later through the menu path: Planning > Comparison Reports > Schedule Difference.
Dashboard Description
The dashboard features several input controls at the top, allowing you to filter the results effectively. By default, only records with difference are shown on the dashboard. However, you can select true in the All Included control to display all records. For the Origin Airport and Dest Airport controls, typing a portion of the airport name will generate a list of matching options from which you can choose. To quickly identify an airport if you know its code, enter the code followed by a colon (e.g., JFK:). Similarly, the Mkt Airline and Opt Airline controls accept airline code and name separated by a colon, for marketing airline and operating airline, respectively. Last, you can select one or more items in the Aircraft control to filter the result by aircraft type.
The Schedule Difference dashboard highlights the differences of schedule input in the baseline and the current scenarios. It includes two charts and a table:
- Weekly Flight Frequency Difference: This chart presents weekly differences in flight frequencies for the top 30 non-directional flight segments, ranked in descending order based on the magnitude of change. The term “non-directional” refers to the aggregation of flight frequencies for both directions into a single measure. For instance, if there are 7 flights from AMS to BOS and another 7 from BOS to AMS, this will be represented as a single AMS-BOS bar, summing to 14 flights. The airport pairs are organized alphabetically, with the code lower in the sequence as the origin and the higher one as the destination. In terms of the frequency, each organic flight is assigned a value of 1, whereas each codeshare flight is equivalently valued at 0.2. Additionally, you can click any bar in the chart to filter the entire dashboard by the non-directional segment. This is a shortcut for entering values in the Origin Airport and Dest Airport controls.
- Weekly Flight Frequency Difference by Marketing Airline: This chart displays weekly difference in flight frequencies by marketing airline. You can click any bar in the chart to filter the entire dashboard by the marketing airline associated with the bar.
- Flight Difference: The table details records from the reference scenario (Source column: Old) and the current scenario (Source column: New). By default, only records with difference are shown in the table. However, you can select true in the All Included control to display all records, including those are identical (Source column: Same) in both scenarios. You can click any cell in the MKT_AL, OPT_AL, ORG, DST and Aircraft columns to filter the entire dashboard by the selected value. The table is bi-directional. For example, if you select AMS as the Origin Airport and BOS as the Dest Airport, it will display flights in both directions, encompassing both AMS-BOS and BOS-AMS routes.
