Comparison Action

To highlight the differences in flight schedule input between the current scenario and a baseline, follow these steps as demonstrated in Figure 1:

  1. Navigate to the scenario screen with menu Planning > Scenario Analysis.
  2. Select your base case from the Reference Scenario dropdown list.
  3. Choose Market Size from the subsequent dropdown list.
  4. Click on Compare.

Comparison Result

When you start the comparison, the system begins by analyzing the market size input across two scenarios. Due to the large volume of market size data, this process may take about a minute to complete. Following this, a comparative dashboard is created and displayed in a new tab, as shown in Figure 2. This dashboard can be accessed later through the menu path: Planning > Comparison Reports > Market Size Difference.

Dashboard Description

The dashboard features several input controls at the top, allowing you to filter the results effectively. At first, it displays data in all top markets. However, you can select true in the Diff Only control to limit the display to records with difference. The Orig Country and Dest Country controls accept country names for the origin country and destination country. For the Orig Airport and Dest Airport controls, typing a portion of the airport name will generate a list of matching options from which you can choose. To quickly identify an airport if you know its code, enter the code followed by a colon (e.g., JFK: ).

The Market Size Difference dashboard highlights the differences of market size data including traffic volume and average fare in the baseline and the current scenarios. It includes two charts and a table:

  • Market Size Difference by Country: This chart presents the number of passengers in the reference (Pax_Old) and the current (Pax_New) scenarios for top 20 origin countries, ranked in descending order based on the market size. You can click any bar in the chart to filter the entire dashboard by the origin country associated with the bar. This is a shortcut for entering values in the Orig Country control.
  • Market Size Difference by Country Pair: This chart displays the number of passengers in the reference (Pax_Old) and the current (Pax_New) scenarios for top 30 country pairs, ranked in descending order based on the market size. You can click any bar in the chart to filter the entire dashboard by the origin and destination countries associated with the bar.
  • Market Size Difference: The table details records from the reference scenario (Source column: Old) and the current scenario (Source column: New), including those are identical (Source column: Same) in both scenarios. You can click any cell in the ORG or DST columns to filter the entire dashboard by the selected value.
