In metropolitan areas like London or New York City, where multiple airports exist, our system introduces an Airport Market Grouping feature to mirror the competitive dynamics of airlines operating across these airports. This functionality aggregates the traffic of nearby airports, recognizing them as a collective market to accurately represent potential passenger redistribution.

To activate this feature, simply select the Group Airport Market checkbox on the model execution screen (refer to Figure 1).

Airport groups can be defined in the Group_Airport table. Access this table by navigating to [Your User Name] > Custom Tables (illustrated in Figure 2), and select the GROUP_AIRPORT table.

The table contains three columns, as depicted in Figure 3.

  • Code: Represents the IATA code for the metropolitan area.
  • Members: Lists the IATA codes of individual airports within the group, each code is separated with a comma.
  • Description: Provides a brief description of each airport group (optional).

The system comes with 38 pre-defined metropolitan areas with multiple airports. You are empowered to edit these records, add new groups, or delete existing ones as required.
