Host Airport vs. Origin Airport: What’s the Difference?

Host Airport

Host Airport is the airport where ZIP-level data is available, derived from Air Mobility, Hotel, Census, and other sources. ZIP-level data is only provided for one end of an O&D market — either the origin or the destination airport.

Origin Airport

Origin Airport is the origin of an O&D market. If you select bidirectional or non-directional mode, the Origin filter may also apply to the destination side.

Database Structure

Each granular record contains Host Airport, ZIP Code, Origin Airport, and Destination Airport.

• The Host Airport equals either the Origin Airport or the Destination Airport.
• The ZIP Code is always tied to the Host Airport.
• If the Host Airport = Origin, the ZIP-level data represents outbound traffic.
• If the Host Airport = Destination, the ZIP-level data represents inbound traffic.
