The US BizAv (Business Aviation) market has been booming since March 2021. This series of articles track the traffic trend of this market. We define the BizAv market as part-135 on-demand for-hire private flying by business jets or certain turboprop planes. The numbers in the following charts exclude part-91 private flights. Figure 1 shows the trends in U.S. Business Aviation (BizAv) traffic from January 2022 to October 2024. Business flight activity saw a strong recovery from September to October 2024, reaching levels higher than those observed in the previous two years by the end of October.

Figure 2 provides a comparative analysis of flight data for September and October 2024, revealing a 13.9% increase in daily flight frequency. The average flight hours per flight also rose by 2.73%, leading to a 17.1% growth in total daily flight hours. Except for Very Light Jets, all aircraft categories achieved over 10% growth, with Light Jets and Super Light Jets showing increases of more than 20% compared to the previous month.

In September and October 2024, business aviation activity increased across most U.S. states. Florida saw a 52% growth, making it the leading state for business flights. California, despite a 20% increase from the previous month, ranked second.

In October 2024, the number of flights rose by 4%, and daily flight hours increased by 2% compared to October 2023. This growth occurred despite a 1.9% decrease in average flight hours per flight. Very Light Jet activity declined sharply by 39%, while Super Light Jets saw a 14.4% increase. Larger aircraft categories, from Midsize Jets to Ultra Long Range Jets, experienced relatively minor changes.

Comparing flight data from October 2023 to October 2024, several states, including South Carolina and Louisiana, saw significant increases in total flight activity. Among the top three states, Florida experienced a slight decline of 0.9%, while California and Texas saw gains of 8.3% and 6.8%, respectively.
